Volunteer Job Descriptions:

Animal Caregiver
|
Clean and maintain
cages, prepare diets, feed animals, wash dishes, sort
mealworms, and observe and work directly with the
wildlife. A four-month commitment is required. During
the spring and summer months volunteers are required
to work 3 or 4 hour shifts, once a week. Minimum age:
16 years old. |

Art |
Be responsible for developing
and preparing fliers, posters and displays to promote
wildlife |

Handyperson |
Do odd jobs around the site
including repairing cages and equipment, painting
and building. |
• |
Grant Writing |
Write simple grants to generate
funds for the education and rehabilitation programs.

Docents |
Assist W.E.R.C. teachers with
school and field programs. |
• |
Publicity Writer |
Write public service announcements,
press releases, fliers, rescue stories, and assist
with the W.E.R.C. newsletter. |

Fundraising |
Assist with developing and organizing
activities (flea market, raffles, and sponsorships,
etc.)

Record Keeping |
Maintain Supporter records, sponsorships,
volunteer hours, animal acquisitions |

Volunteer Orientation sessions are held once a month
on Saturday at 10 AM at W.E.R.C. They last about one hour
and have a non-refundable charge of $10.00. When submitting
an application, please indicate which session you will be
attending and include your payment.

Once your application and payment are received you will
be given directions to the center. We are located on private
property in southwest Morgan Hill, off Watsonville Road
and are not open to the public.
